Only 18 months since its inception Champion Taekwondo Kenya were invited to
Kenya Fluorspar Company, in partnership with Kenya Forest Service, supplied tree seedlings to three schools during the World Environment Day 5th June, 2013; Theme “Think, Eat, Save: Reduce Your Foodprint.”
During a 7 week period from end March 2013 to mid May 2013 the Kerio Valley received more than 700mm of rain leaving a path of destruction. Rivers were in flood, roads impassable and bridges and access facilities to communities and schools were washed away.
Saturday 01 December dawned with great expectations for 370 attendees to the Fluorspar Taekwondo centre. This was to be their first grading following the inauguration of the new building on 3 July 2012 which is part of the Company’s CSR initiative.
On Thursday 22 November 2012 Fluorspar School bus with 30 children and 3 teachers went to St Patrick’s Secondary School in Iten to assist them in organizing their new library which was donated by the Field-Marsham Foundation.
Kenya Fluorspar Company has been thanked by the local communities of Simit and Menone, located about 10 kilometres north of the mine in the Kerio-Valley, for the assistance they gave after the recent mudslide tragedy caused by the heavy rains that occured on 29 December 2012.
