Taking into account the remote location of the mining operations, Kenya Fluorspar has focussed considerable attention on providing sports and recreation facilities for its staff, their families and the wider community.

Pride of place is the Fluorspar Stadium, which hosts both football and athletic events, and is the start and finish point for the popular annual Kenya Fluorspar Road Race, which attracts hundreds of top runners from the region and other parts of Kenya. Volleyball, tennis, squash, netball are among other sports played.

Recreational facilities at the nearby Fluorspar Club include indoor games and television services, both local stations and DSTV satellite services.
 A community league, comprising teams from the mine and surrounding communities has been established for football, netball and volleyball. A full league is run for these sports and matches are played over weekends, where officials are rewarded for their services and match awards made.

A total of eight teams participate in the soccer and volleyball leagues and at the end of each season a prizewinning function is held.

In addition a Kenya Fluorspar team, made up of employees and players from the local community, participates in the nationwide Kenya and performs well enough to feature usually in the top three position. The team sponsorship amounts to approximately
US $ 30,000 a year.
