In March 2010 the Company decided to assist 4 youth groups from the Kabokbok area in establishing a project which hopefully would lead to self sustenance on the long run. An area of approximately 12,5 acres that was damaged by means of deforestation for charcoal purposes by the community was ploughed.

The youth groups have planted maize, cow peas, green grams and water melons which they hope to harvest and from the sales be able to grow more crops. The first water melons are due to be harvested mid July. A future project that is being considered is the establishment of a small poultry establishment for each group. The purpose would be to basically specialize in laying hens and sell eggs and eventually expand to become involved in selling of chicks and chickens. Funding from the Company for these projects have been in terms of the CSR vote and sales from scrap and proceeds have also been apportioned to these projects. The aim is to ensure that the project will be self sustainable from January 2011.
